Bump Chart

Ranks per period joined with S-curves, to show how the order changed rather than the values. Rank 1 is at the top, and names sit at both ends of the lines.

Bump - Basic

bump-basic

A card that shows how several items' ranks changed from period to period, all at once. Use it to show a ranking race between branches or products.

  • Give values (values) and each period is ranked from largest to smallest. Ranks hide the size of the differences, so when the gaps matter, use Line - Multiple.
  • Only the top three items in the last period are colored orange, pink-red and blue (the line chart's color rule); the rest are gray.
  • Keep to about eight items. More, and the lines tangle until they cannot be read, so keep only the top items.
